African Scholars Fund – sponsoring secondary education for our youth
The African Scholars Fund helps promising young schoolchildren from desperately poor homes to complete their secondary or FET (further education and training) college education. The fund relies solely on private donors. Whereas there are other organisations that focus on providing youth with tertiary education, no student reaches university or an FET college without first going to school. The African Scholars Fund ensures that our youth are properly schooled and prepared for further education.
The fund however provides a lot more than financial support. They keep in contact with the scholars and teachers and also visit the schools where the learners are enrolled.
Every year we donate a specific amount to this fund. The money is administered by a committee who allocates the cash to the learners according to African Scholars’ Fund’s in-house criteria. We receive feedback from the committee regularly and have also received letters from the children that we are sponsoring, thanking us for our contribution.
