Recently our team at Catalyst had the privilege of participating in the Day of the Girl initiative, led by CFA Society South Africa . This job shadowing programme gives Grade 10 and 11 girls the opportunity to explore careers in finance and investment through real-world exposure.
We hosted a bright Grade 10 learner and shared insights into our industry and company culture. In return, we learned so much from her! She has a beautiful soprano voice, is her class representative, and has a clear passion for finance. While Debtors Recons are currently her nemesis in Accounting, we shared some tools to help her conquer that fear.
Over a fun and simple round of “2 Truths and a Lie”, we were reminded of the power of curiosity, personality traits, interpersonal dynamics, and communication skills.
As proud supporters of the Fezeka programme, we believe that awareness, exposure, and belief in these girls can make a world of difference. The journey to becoming a CA(SA) and/or CFA isn’t short nor easy, but with the right support network, these young women have the grit and determination to thrive.
